Who would believe that a whole year has passed since we first went into Spanish lock-down?

On the 15th March we received the news that Spain was in lock-down from midnight. We understood this meant that we were confined to the house and only allowed to leave for food or medical purposes. No exercise was allowed and walking the dogs was limited to a few meters from the house!

This is when I grew very grateful that we had moved to Mallorca from Barcelona. Had we been in Barcelona, we would have been stuck in an apartment and I have no doubt that would have been far more stressful for us all.

Charlie and Leo seemed to be fine with all the new changes. Leo was exceptionally happy that he was getting tonnes of attention now that we were all home.

Most days we would wake up, walk down the field at the back of the house, eat and watch the day unfold. Walking was impossible and there was a lot of fear in the air so we didn’t feel like taking any risks.

We live in a very sweet village called Lloret de Vistalegre. It’s one of the most central villages on the island! The village only has 1500 inhabitants and I’m proud to say there were zero Covid cases in the village until after lock-down had lifted.

It was a very long time that we were cooped up in the house. 8 weeks passed of extreme lockdown and then gently we were allowed to explore the outside world again. By then, both boys looked like fluffy rascals and desperately needed a groom. Being new on the island, I had no idea where to go and people I reached out to for a grooming appointment intment, had long waiting lists.

Yet we can’t complain. We were safe and very fortunate to have been on Mallorca during the pandemic.

Easter Lock-Down Scotties

Over all, lock-down for us was relatively calm. Thanks to Charlie and Leo, my metal health stayed balanced but my inner world was largely in turmoil as I missed human contact and integrating into our new home. However, the Instagram community was wonderful and we all stayed connected as the world went through a very bizarre and challenging time.
