I’m not a fan of going to get groomed! Is any dog?! However I do like Felix Duque and the shop I go to is very jazzy here in Barcelona.

The Boss doesn’t take me too often but according to Felix I am a very good Scottie Dog. He told the Boss I behave beautifully and I never complain despite having a hairdryer in my face and scissors close to my bottom…

The eyebrows of a Scottish Terrier are very important – the longer the better. Felix said as long as I can see, they can grow to my nose! Personally the Boss and I like them when they reach half-way to my nose and he also told us that no groomer should ever cut the beard. As I mentioned in the last post, the beard makes the Scottie 😉

For many years the Boss had me cut normally (clipping) and then we met a very lovely chap from Brazil who travels the world to groom dogs and told the Boss off for not understanding just how special my coat is.

Did you know we have two coats? An undercoat and the topcoat. If you shave the coat, it can cause damage when I get older as it becomes soft and no longer ‘weather-resistant’.

I did look good when they used a ‘machine’ because my brindle colour was very bright but now they do something called ‘stripping’. A special tool is used to do this and I don’t find it too painful plus Felix is very gentle with me. Therefore we personally opt for hand-stripping the coat and now after three years my coat is very healthy.

Being_A_Scottie_Dog_GroomedI go to the groomer every 6 – 8 weeks. We really like Felix and my new collar is also from his showroom too. He has a wonderful selection of treats (which I’m not allowed) and everything to do with dogs.

Being_A_Scottie_Dog_Felix_Duque We really are a lucky bunch of animals aren’t we? Our humans do love us and will do anything to make sure we are happy.

My parting wisdom for you is this, you are very loved!

Paw-Power to you all

Love,

Charlie
